Directions:

1. Combine the Ingredients: Add the white wine, Aperol, apple juice, brown sugar, lemon juice, and the cinnamon stick to a pot. Stir gently to combine. Add the orange slices, reserving a few for garnish if desired.

2. Heat the Aperol: Warm the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it is hot but not boiling. This ensures the flavors meld together while preserving the alcohol.

3. Serve: Remove from heat and pour into heatproof glasses or mugs. Garnish with an orange slice and, if desired, a cinnamon stick. Serve immediately.

Some Recipe Tips:

Choose the Right Wine: A dry white wine works best to balance the sweetness of the Aperol and apple juice.

Experiment with Spices: Add a star anise or a few cloves for a more festive flavor.

Adjust Sweetness: Taste the mixture as you heat it and adjust the sugar to your preference. Honey or maple syrup can be used as alternatives.

Serve Warm, Not Boiling: To preserve the alcohol content and enhance the flavors, ensure the drink is heated gently and never brought to a boil.

Garnish Creatively: Use a cinnamon stick, a slice of orange, or even a sprig of rosemary for an extra festive touch.
