How to make Chocolate Orange Cookies:

(1) For the Cookie Dough

In a large mixing bowl, mix 200 g all-purpose flour and 60 g cornflour together. Add 100 g granulated white sugar, 1 packet of bourbon-vanilla sugar, 1 tablespoon of orange zest, 125 g butter and 1 egg and knead everything together with a dough hook to form a smooth dough. Finally, chop the 100 g dark chocolate into small pieces and add to the dough and knead, until the chocolate is well distributed in the dough.

Divide the dough into two equal parts and shape into rolls, about 3 cm thick. Then gently flatten the rolls, until they have reached the desired shape of about 5 cm width and 1 cm height. Wrap the shaped rolls in cling film and chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour, or until hard.

(2) Making the Cookies

As soon as the dough has hardened, it can be processed further.

Preheat the oven to 200 °C, top/bottom heat.

Remove the shaped rolls from the cling film and cut into 1/2 cm thick slices with a sharp knife and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

(3) Bake the Cookies

Bake the cookies in the preheated oven on the middle shelf for about 8 – 9 minutes.

Carefully remove the finished cookies with the baking paper from the baking tray and let them cool down completely on a cooling rack.

Recipe Tips:

Storage: Packed in an airtight container, these Chocolate Orange Cookies will keep for 2 – 4 weeks.

Orange Flavor: For an even more intense orange flavor, add a few drops of orange aroma in addition to the fresh orange zest.
