Ingredients:
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp milk
- 4 drops almond extract (optional)
- 100 g sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla sugar
- 200 g cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 100 g chocolate sprinkles
- 100 g dark chocolate, for decoration
Directions:
1. Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar, milk, almond extract, and cold butter in small pieces. Mix everything with your hands or a hand mixer until it forms a firm dough. Finally, knead the chocolate sprinkles evenly into the dough.
2. Chill the dough: Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
3. Cut out and bake: Roll the dough on a floured surface to about 5 mm thick. Cut out shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 160°C (320°F) with fan for 10–11 minutes.
4. Decorate and store: Let the cookies cool, decorate with dark chocolate, and store in a cookie jar.
Some Recipe Tips:
Use cold butter: Make sure the butter is cold to achieve the perfect dough consistency. If the butter is too soft, the dough might become too sticky.
Chocolate sprinkles: Use baking-friendly chocolate sprinkles that won’t melt during baking, to get the best texture and flavor.
Resting the dough: Be sure to let the dough rest in the fridge for at least 1 hour. This will firm up the dough, making it easier to roll out.
Keep an eye on the baking time: Every oven is different, so monitor the cookies while they bake to prevent them from getting too dark.
Let the cookies cool: Allow the cookies to cool completely before decorating or storing them in a cookie jar. This helps them stay crisp.
Storage: Store the cookies in an airtight container or cookie jar to keep them fresh. They’ll stay delicious for up to 4 weeks when stored in a cool, dry place.
