Directions:

1. Prepare the Vanilla Sugar:

Split the vanilla bean lengthwise, scrape out the seeds, and cut the empty pod into small pieces.

Add the seeds and pod pieces to the sugar in an airtight container. Shake the container or mix everything together with a spoon to combine everything.

2. Let the Vanilla Sugar Sit for 1 Week:

Let the mixture sit for at least one week, shaking occasionally to ensure the vanilla flavor is evenly distributed.

After a week, your homemade vanilla sugar is ready to use. You can leave the pod pieces in for extra flavor. For a finer texture, pulse the sugar, seeds, and pod pieces in a food processor before storing.

Some Recipe Tips:

Storage Tip: Keep the vanilla sugar in an airtight container, and it will last for months. The flavor actually gets stronger over time.

Extra Flavor: If you want an even more intense vanilla flavor, use two vanilla beans instead of one.

Versatile Use: Use vanilla sugar in baking, coffee, tea, or sprinkled on fresh fruit for a delicious twist.

Refillable: Once the vanilla sugar is used up, you can refill the container with more sugar and keep the vanilla pod pieces in for another batch.

Alternative Sugars: Try substituting regular sugar with coconut sugar or brown sugar for a unique flavor.
