The Espresso Martini is an elegant and sophisticated cocktail with a boozy caffeinated kick. With only a few ingredients, Vodka, Kahlua, and freshly brewed Espresso, it is also quick and easy to prepare right at home. It is the perfect cocktail for all coffee lovers and also makes a great after-dinner drink.

Fun Fact: The Espresso Martini was invented by Dick Bradsell in London at Fred’s Bar in the early 1980s.
According to stories, he spontaneously created this cocktail for a young model who ordered a drink at his counter with the words: “I want something to wake me up and fuck me up!” According to Bradsell, this young model is now a world-renowned supermodel. With the boozy and caffeinated kick of the Espresso Martini, Bradsell surely delivered what she was asking for.
Ingredients you will need for this recipe:
- 20 ml Vodka
- 25 ml Coffee Liqueur | Kahlua
- 25 ml Espresso | freshly brewed
- ice cubes
- a few coffee beans for decoration

How to make an Espresso Martini:


(1) Gather your Ingredients
Gather your ingredients and prepare a fresh Espresso.
(2) Make the Espresso Martini
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes, add 20 ml Vodka, 25 ml Coffee Liqueur, 25 ml freshly brewed Espresso.
Be sure to close the shaker properly and shake for 10 – 20 seconds.
(3) Serve the Espresso Martini
Strain into a Martini Glass, let the foam settle, and decorate with a few coffee beans, by carefully placing them on top of the foam.
