Classic Old Fashioned with Thyme

This Classic Old Fashioned recipe has a little twist of added thyme. For extra cozy, winter vibes, you can add some smoked aromas to your Old Fashioned by burning the thyme with a flambé burner. It releases wonderful aromas and makes this the perfect drink for cozy and cold winter days.

Ingredients you will need for this recipe:
  • Bourbon | Whiskey
  • Angostura Bitters
  • sugar
  • ice cubes
  • orange peel
  • a sprig of thyme
How to make a Classic Old Fashioned with Thyme:

(1) Add 1/2 teaspoon sugar, 2-3 dashes of Angostura Bitter, and a few drops of water to a cocktail glass. Stir to mix the sugar with the Angostura Bitter.

(2) Add a few ice cubes and 60 ml Bourbon|Whiskey. Stir to dissolve the sugar.

(3) Cut some orange peel from a thoroughly washed fresh organic orange, cut it into a strip. Twist the orange peel over the drink to release the aromas and run it around the rim of the glass. 

(4) Drop the orange peel into the drink. Finally, roll the sprig of thyme between your hands to release the aromas, and add to the glass.

Tip: If you would like to enjoy your Old Fashioned with a little “smoked” aromas, you can burn the thyme sprig with a flambé burner after releasing the thyme aromas. This releases wonderful smoky aromas from the thyme.
